How to Use Aluminium Brazing Rods

Used with nothing more than a heat source, such as propane or oxy-acetylene!


Through recent advancements in metallurgy, HTS-2000 is found to be the easiest, fastest, and strongest brazing rod ever to be developed! Made for all non-ferrous metals and aluminium parts, HTS-2000 is a second generation Industrial Strength Brazing Rod created from a revolutionary new formula.

Not to be confused with Alumaloy, Alumaweld, Alumarod, Durafix, Aladdin 3 in 1, or any other first generation rods which generally consist of just 3 alloys. HTS-2000 is a unique stand-alone product, Comprised of nine alloys that cost more to produce and through exhaustive testing led to this superior advanced technology. HTS-2000 has an elongation of 10% in 2 inches (rather than the standard 3% like the first generation rods listed above) which makes HTS-2000 3 times more flexible and stronger than any of its competitors. It also easily penetrates past impurities that lay below the metal's surface which may be impossible to penetrate with competitors materials. Also unlike the first generation rods HTS-2000 does not require steel or special cleaning brushes. HTS-2000 is a "Second Generation" fluxless low-heat brazing rod for nonferrous metals. HTS-2000 will successfully join all aluminium alloys, including those that are not favorably joined by high-temperature brazing.

When drawn over heated aluminium, HTS-2000 penetrates the aluminium oxide, creating a molecular bond that is stronger than the original commercial aluminium. Electrochemical corrosion is never a problem, because the electrode potential between HTS-2000 and aluminium is so slight. HTS-2000 joints last permanently in normal or protected environments. They will endure 10 years or longer under severe conditions. HTS-2000 joints are evaluated as permanent, corrosion resistant, and stronger than joints made by heli-arc machines and all other brazing rods tested.

Instructions for using HTS�2000

Step 1:
Clean the area to be worked with a file, grinder, or wire brush. This "2nd Generation" brazing rod does not require a special brush to make it work!

Step 2:
Heat the work surface (not the brazing rod) until the work surface is hot enough to melt the rod, just as you would if using a solder. DO NOT PUT THE ROD IN THE FLAME. You must bring the temperature of the base metal up to the melting point of the HTS�2000 Fluxless Brazing Rod. Open the pores of the work surface with heat for the rod to penetrate the surface.

Step 3:
For threads and thin aluminium, tin the housing with the rod itself by scratching on the housing when the appropriate temperature is reached. For all other uses, use the tinning brush (included) to tin the area with HTS�2000, when the appropriate temperature is reached. Then do your build up for excellent results.

Step 4:
When the repair is completed, always allow to cool naturally. Propane works well on most weights up to 6mm thick. Over that, use mapp gas.

Note: Remember that the thicker the material, the longer it takes to reach the proper temperature. On heavier work or to save time, you can use oxygen acetylene. Always use a Rosebud tip or a neutral flame with oxygen acetylene. Do not put the rod in the direct flame while brazing with HTS�2000 Fluxless Brazing Rods.
